  1. Another Mothers’ Day?! Did you know that the US share their Mothers’ Day with Belgium and Switzerland (chocolate would therefore seem an appropriate gift LOL). The UK and (I think) Ireland celebrate Mothers’ Day in March, and France celebrate their Fête des Mères on 30th May.

Have you and Chris decided whether you will be going on this year’s Rally? I have been talking to Rose (on email) quite a lot recently. It turned out she had an old school friend living in my mum’s hometown on the Isle of Wight. We relayed messages back and forth via Rose, reminiscing about how things were here 30 years ago, and in the end I just said, “hey, tell your friend to stop by for a cup of tea one day”. I didn’t really expect she would, as she hasn’t seen Rose since they left school. But, would you believe, last Monday, she did! Small world, eh?

  2. Wow; yes, small world indeed! How is Rose? I never hear from her; I think she’s upset with me and Chris.

I almost certainly will not be riding the rally this year as we have our house on the market and I don’t know what will (or will not) happen in that regard. Will we have to find a new place to live quickly and then be involved in packing, moving, signing papers to sell, buy, etc.?? I had planned earlier to go if a friend of mine from my high school days (who had expressed great interest earlier) decided he would go. But his dad has been quite ill (I think he had expected him to pass away before now) and he now feels he doesn’t want to take the chance of being half way across the country and getting a phone call that he needs to rush home.

I think Chris is in the same boat — he had planned to go if his brother (who just bought a new motorcycle) had decided to do it, but the brother is now leaning toward not going this year. We both hope to make it to Willowbrook to see everyone, but we will not ride 66.

Have you bought a new Harley yet?

  3. No. No Harley or other new bike … and unlikely to be one until we come back to the US, which wont be any time soon if we don’t sell our house in London. We were hoping that the General Election would help the housing market, but the papers are saying it might be Thursday before we see whether the one-eyed Scottish idiot gets evicted from Downing Street. Very frustrating all round.

One nice thing to look forward to is a brief trip home at the end of the month. It will be almost a year to the day since I was last there …

  4. Wow! Very nice house. Wish we could buy it, but it’s about half a million pounds more than we could afford! Good luck. And enjoy your trip home.

  5. The house is only worth as much as someone is prepared to pay for it. We don’t expect to get the asking price. Even so, we hope to do well. I bought the upstairs flat in 1984. Then John and I were able to buy the downstairs in 1995 and knock the two back into a whole house. We were lucky enough to get in when we did. We could never have afforded to do it now.
